Speaker 1:

Can you believe they have the audacity? Welcome to the have the Audacity podcast. I'm your host, jc Waller. I'm on a mission to empower women like you to live audaciously. What does it mean to live audaciously, you ask? Living audaciously means you're no longer available for living your life based on someone else's agenda, standards or boundaries. It's time to activate your power, use your voice and create the life you're meant to live. So the next time someone asks, can you believe she had the audacity? You can look at them and say, yeah, I did. You can look at them and say, yeah, I did. The Audacious Human.

Speaker 1:

We are diving straight into today's episode, and it's going to be an uncomfy one. We have these from time to time, and sometimes they're necessary to have these conversations, and so here we are, we're going in. Anybody in my life knows that I'm not afraid to ask the tough questions or have the uncomfortable conversation, and that's why I have this, because I care about you, and so we're going to jump in. So this isn't going to be like not to be all doom and gloomy, but there's one. Keep it real. You have a TBD amount of days here. You know we're getting ready to kick off this six months challenge, this audacious six months challenge to set a goal and act like, make choices, do the things that that version of you who already has achieved the goal does every day. And, to be honest, in just all reality, who knows Like? We have a TBD amount of days here. We all do. We don't get to know the count. So, like I titled this, like, are you protecting your most valuable asset? Because when we think of assets, we think of money, property, material things, but do you know what your most valuable asset is? It's time. You have a TBD amount of days here. You don't know when your days are up. We don't know how much time we have. Time is our most valuable asset Right now.

Speaker 1:

As you're listening to this, we are two minutes into this episode, probably. Well, the two minutes of the recording. It's not including the intros. We're almost three minutes into this episode, probably well, the two minutes of the recording. It's not including the intros. We're almost three minutes into this episode now and that's three minutes of your life. You're not getting back Because once it's been, it's gone and we're and it's constantly going. It's our most valuable asset and we take it for granted and I don't I care about you too much to just let you keep going through life taking it for granted, cause we just always assume it's going to be there. There's always going to be more.

Speaker 1:

It's one of those things when you look up and you're like, dang, how am I already? This old Time goes by fast and it doesn't slow down, and so I really want you to take some time and think about, like, how are you spending your time and you know I have all, all ages, different graphics listen to this and so, like, how are you spending your time? Like there's some things non-negotiable. Like you have to go to work. If you're in school, you have to go to school. Like some things, we're spending our time, but are we making the most of our time that we're spending? You know this comes back to.

Speaker 1:

I shared a few episodes ago. If you've been here, you know I'm doing this. If you're new here, welcome. But I am giving up streaming services for six months, starting on August 1st to February 1st 2025, I'm unsubscribed from all streaming services. Because I thought about it how much time am I spending just binge watching Netflix? Like, what am I doing? And I thought about this like, is this moving me towards a goal, towards a version of the self that I want, the things that I know I've been put on this earth to do. Is this leading me towards it?

Speaker 1:

Now, I'm not saying grind 24-7, not saying that at all but it's just being honest with yourself and sitting in that uncomfortable and just doing a little time audit how are you spending your time? And the biggest thing about it is we're not making anything wrong. We're not shaming ourselves. We're not wrong for doing any of these things. We're looking at it objectively and deciding does this make me feel good? Does this add to my life or does it take away? Does it make me feel more energetic or does it make me feel depleted? And we're going to start removing the things that we can that do not give to us, that are not making us feel more energetic, that are not making us feel better.

Speaker 1:

If you're spending two hours a day scrolling on social media, like, is that really making you feel good? Doom scrolling, just absorbing content after content after content after content, is that really making you feel good? Is that making you feel better or is it giving you anxiety and making you feel bad, like, be honest? So the first thing you need to do is you need to do a time audit when are you spending your time and diving deeper into that. Once you've done that, here's the next one who are you surrounding yourself with? Because that's even more valuable, considering how valuable your time is Like.

Speaker 1:

Literally every second of the day, you're getting older. You are now five minutes older than what you were when you started listening to this episode. Time is clicking by. Second by second You're getting older, so who you spend your time with is even more important. Is it somebody that is raising you up energetically? Is it somebody that you leave feeling more energized, or is it like an energy vampire, where you feel more depleted and drained from being around? This person who you surround yourself with just got 10 times more valuable. Is it somebody speaking life into you, or is it somebody speaking negativity into you? These are important questions to ask yourself. These are uncomfortable questions to ask yourself, but so necessary because you don't know how long you have left here, and every second time is ticking by.

Speaker 1:

So how are you spending your time? Who are you spending your time with? We all know most people know you are the five people that you hang out the most. What we forget, though, too, on that is. That's who we're listening to, who we're following. If you spend a lot of time on social media, they count. If you're spending more time on social media than you are with real humans in real life, the five people are, including the people you follow on social media. If you're listening to podcasts every day, those count. You become like the five people you're on social media. If you're listening to podcasts every day, those count. You become like the five people you're most around.

Speaker 1:

So think about it. Is it lifting you up or is it bringing you down? And I'm not trying to be doom and gloom here, but I care about you too much to not ask these questions because I feel like we don't talk about this enough. We don't. We don't talk about this enough. We don't. We let life happen to us and not for us.

Speaker 1:

And especially in America, life is so fast paced that we don't even really like there's not built in time to pause and like take inventory of your life and how are things going? Am I spending time on things I care about? Am I surrounding myself with people who lift me up, or is everybody in my life draining me and I actually hate it? Am I going into work every day feeling lit up and excited and like giving life. Or am I walking away drained? Pay attention, because I'm not saying every day is like rainbows and unicorns coming out of your butt, but you should be feeling energized, fulfilled, positive.

Speaker 1:

If you're going to work every day dreading the day and grumpy brain's trying to tell you something, we're just not slowing down to listen. I'm not saying quit your job and don't have an exit plan or a next job to pay your bills, like no, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not a jump and hope the net will appear type of person, but maybe it's time you start thinking like oh, maybe I need to try something different. Maybe this isn't it. Maybe this was the season, it served its time and it's done. It's time to move on. That's okay. It doesn't make that time you were there wrong or bad. It's just like oh, I realize this is not it, this is not the future for me, and that's okay.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you've had friends that have been in your life for a really long time. You realize that their life doesn't look like what you want yours to look like. That's okay. It doesn't make them bad. It doesn't make you bad, just means like their life doesn't look like the direction you want your life to go. Not saying cut them out completely, but maybe you need to start introducing connecting with a group of people who are ambitious like you. Are listening to podcasts of people who have accomplished the thing that you want to do. Listening to audiobooks like start getting yourself surrounded by the thoughts and how those people think and how they look at life, more than what's around you.

Speaker 1:

I will be fully transparent on this. I live in small town America. I live in a small town in Texas, and having an online presence is not the norm. I grew up with this idea that you go to school. You go to college, you find somebody to marry in college, you get married after college, you start having kids in your early 20s and your career and your life is structured around this idea, and that is what you do. You live in a small town, you raise your kids, they move out. Some of your parents are like and you just coasted the same job for 30 years. That's it.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you, my world opened up whenever I moved out of my small town and went to college, but even more so when I found podcasts and I started listening to other people with different experiences. And then I started connecting with women all over the globe and was like opened my eyes to what else is out there, to what more I could achieve. Not saying the version of me who thought those were the goals that she wanted were wrong. No, that's what I knew, that's what everybody around me. That was the trajectory of the life they were on, that you become like the five people you hang around with the most. It's true.

Speaker 1:

So then I started hanging out with different people, not saying I cut out everybody on my life, because that's not it, and I'm not saying I'm better than them because my life looks different than theirs. I'm 30 years old and don't have kids, and that would freak people out. That would have freaked out 10-year-ago version me. 15-year-ago version me would have been like what are you doing? I'm 30 years old and I don't have kids Doesn't make me better than people that do. It doesn't make me worse. My life looks different. I realized I didn't have to. If I didn't want kids, I didn't have to have them. Freedom in that you become who you hang around with the most. You become who you spend the most time with.

Speaker 1:

So if you don't want your life to look like the people around you, not saying cut them out at all. I almost all my friends have kids. Majority of my friends, they all have families, and I love their kids. I also have friends who don't. I listen to podcasts from people who don't. I listen to podcasts of people who have the kind of success that I want in life and and do have kids, like they're not mutually exclusive. So what I'm saying is, though, is you need to make sure that you are at least getting some input, that a few of those five people that you spend the most of your time with look like the direction you want to go, or even just look different from you, so you know what else is out there.

Speaker 1:

Sometimes, when you care about somebody, you have to ask the hard questions, and that's why I sat down to record today. I sat down to talk to you about this, because I care about you. I want you to make the most out of your TBD about a day's here. I want you to leave this 15-minute conversation of your life with some positive given to you than when you started, with something positive to take away, because I know how precious time is and I'm not going to take it for granted ever that you allow me to be with you for part of your life every week. Now, if you're like I want to get around people who women, who are going for more reaching their goals. I don't really have a lot of people with that kind of ambition in my immediate circle and I need that in my life. I need to be around like-minded women.

Speaker 1:

Well, if you're listening to this in real time, next week, august 1st, I am launching the Audacious Six-Mon challenge and we are setting a goal. This whole challenge is around this premise that you can have reach your goal in six months. But the caveat is is you have to do act like, make choices and be the person who already has the goal. You have to have the habit, make the choices, the version of you that has already reached the goal that you want for six months. And so I have a free Facebook group and if you're listening to this and it's after August 1st, cool, come join.

Speaker 1:

And if you want more than that. There's a Facebook group. Speaker 1:

Don't let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise, and if that idea or vision for your life is in you, it is for you. Living with this phrase in mind in today's world is such a truly audacious thing for you to do so. Until the next time I talk to you. Remember, have the audacity.
